A pump or gearbox seal is selected by shaft size, housing bore, medium and rotation speed — not by the equipment name alone.
NBR is recommended for gearbox and bearing oil up to +120 °C. FKM if the shaft is hot or fuel is nearby. A water pump is sealed separately: EPDM on the water lip, NBR on the bearing oil. One grade for both media is not recommended.
A radial oil seal is not a replacement for a pump mechanical seal. If a pair of faces or a spring-loaded assembly contains the leak, identify that design first: a rubber lip solves a different task.
Speed matters. A slow valve shaft and a pump shaft at 3000 rpm need a different lip and spring. An order of magnitude is enough; the full data sheet is not required.
We do not stock passenger-car seal numbers. A number helps read the size, but we still check shaft and bore. Send a sample or three sizes: shaft, outside diameter, width.
