Viton is a trade name for the FKM fluoroelastomer family. It is selected for hot oil, fuel, gas and aggressive media, not by the colour of the finished part.
FKM is recommended for hot oil, fuel, many acids and hydrocarbon gas, about −20…+250 °C. On gas that can contain hydrogen sulphide, as at Mubarek and Shurtan, this is the working grade. NBR is not rated for H2S.
FKM is not universal for every chemical or temperature. Check compatibility with concentrated oxidisers, solvents, low temperatures and mixed media against the actual assembly conditions.
For ordinary water, steam up to +150 °C and alkali, FKM is not the task: EPDM costs less and is enough. For food contact, silicone is recommended, not FKM.
Brown or black color does not prove the grade. The request needs medium, temperature and pressure. We make FKM rings, shaft seals and gaskets to drawing or sample in Tashkent.
